------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you accept college graduates looking for life experience?

Certainly. We encourage your application.

How do I receive more information about specific internships or programs?

Fill out an on-line Information Request. An I.C.E. representative will contact you within three days. Our website is the most detailed source of written information. However, a programs manager can provide further detail over the phone about specific programs and internships. You do not have to pay the $15.00 application fee until after you have spoken with an I.C.E. representative and decide to apply formally. However, we request your background information so that we can make suggestions on particular programs. After you speak with a staff person, you can decide if you want to move forward in the application process.

What is the formal application process?

The application process begins with an online application. If you would prefer that an application is mailed to you, please send us an email to that effect. You will need to mail in or provide credit card information for a $15.00 application fee. After the $15.00 fee is received, we will review your application and send you and acceptance packet (if applicable). Owing to the high number of inquiries we receive, we spend the majority of our time focusing on clients who have paid the application fee. If you are looking for intimate details about our programs and internships, paying the fee separates you from "general inquiries." Once the fee is received, you become a client of I.C.E. and will be allowed to speak to in-country contact person directly about the internship or program that you are most interested in. Ultimately, your in-contact person will be the best source of information. A refundable deposit of $600.00 is due within ten days after the acceptance packet is received.

What are the program fees?

Internships start at $1895.00 and up. Click here for a detailed pricing list.

What are the requirements for payment?

Payments may be made in partial amounts, but full payment must be received by I.C.E. forty-five days in advance of departure.

What costs are covered/not covered by I.C.E.?

For internships, fees to I.C.E. cover: placement set up, pre-trip support, Lonely Planet guidebook, housing. Not included: airfare to country, food, incidentals.

Are there scholarships or financial aid?

We do not offer scholarships or financial aid. If you are a student, you may speak with your home institution or the FAFSA office.

How much money should I bring with me?

Plan for spending $300-$600.00 per month, even if you don't think you will spend that much.

I'd like to do an internship for a stipend or salary. Can you help me?

We do not offer internships that are paid positions. Generally, we place interns in socially and environmentally concerned fields. They are limited on funds and that is why they seek interns.

What are the living accommodations like?

Accommodations vary from a home stay with a local family to dormitory-style for internships. Some study abroad programs have camping. I.C.E. will ensure safe and reasonably comfortable accommodations for interns.

Are you hiring interns or paid help?

We are not currently hiring for employees at the Institute at present. Feel free to send a resume which we can keep on file in the event of a job opening.

What is the start date for ICE internships and how long do they last?

I.C.E. internships are individual placements: the start date will be based upon an agreement between you and the host organization. Generally you can choose your own dates. Internships can last anywhere from four weeks to six months (or more!), depending on your availability.
