CUSTOM PLACEMENTS

Introduction
Thank you for your interest in our custom internship placements. Custom placements are a great way to match your finely-tuned skills to a specific employer in a specific location. We have a very high success rate in completing custom placements owing to our global network and fifteen years of placing interns throughout the world. We can do custom placements in any U.S. state as well as many countries including those on our website and beyond..
1) You choose the country and city you want to work in.
2) You choose the topic of your internship.
3) You write up the job description you are willing to accept.
4) Costs will be the same or a few hundred dollars more than those posted on the pricing page
SET UP TIME
Typically, we need three weeks or less to locate a custom internship placement. We will tell you from the outset based on how specific your location is and the job description provided how likely we are to be able to place you. If we think it is too specific we will make suggestions as to what we think is a doable project and you can decide if you want to make adjustments.
EXAMPLE
Here is an example of an actual custom internship placement that we recently completed.
Kathryn approached I.C.E. about doing marine research on the East Coast of the United States. While we had nothing listed in that location and area, Dr. Adams was able to call upon his global contacts to locate the premier marine research center in the Southeast. The result: Kathryn was able to conduct original research on marine life distribution patterns in near coastal waters, in Charleston, South Carolina. We also set up a great housing option for her close to the marine research center. See Kathryn's comments below.
Dear I.C.E. Staff . . .The SCDNR staff were really nice and supportive, from day one they made me feel like I was really part of their research team as a valuable member. The lab and research facilities were top notch and it was really cool to have the college right there. I was also able to go out in the field electrofishing and trammel net fishing. This was really cool because these techniques of fishing can only be done with a special permit and for research purposes exclusively. It was the first time in my life I really got to handle live fish and the boating staff was so knowledgeable they could tell me anything about any of the marine life we saw. The house I stayed at was cute and comfortable. The host was so nice and really helped me in getting acclimated by showing me all the best places to eat, shop, and go to the beach, as well as give me a taste of all of the fascinating history that the area holds. I worked hard, had fun, and made great contacts; what more could you want?
YOUR CUSTOM INTERNSHIP REQUEST
1) In the online application under Letter of Intent write a few paragraphs describing: internship topic(s) and location(s) that you are willing to accept. State both your ideal placement: for example: Dolphin Ecotourism Park / Cancun, Mexico. Also include a more general placement that you would be willing to accept if that is the case: Marine Ecotourism / Mexico, Hawaii, Fiji.
2) Whatever you list in your description must be something that you are willing to accept if we find it so only put down what you would be happy doing. We always start with the most specific before moving to a broader descriptions if necessary.
3) We will tell you at the outset if we think your most specific request or general requests are doable projects. We will give you other options in similar fields to consider before you finalize your statement.
4) Once a statement is agreed upon by both the intern and I.C.E. we both sign it and it serves as a binding agreement.

DEPOSIT
You have two options for paying your deposit. You can pay to I.C.E. directly, or if you would feel more comfortable you can pay it to a third party, in this case we use a independent Law Office based in Seattle, Washington. The check is made out to the actual law firm to be deposited in their account and not released to I.C.E. until the internship has been located and you get written confirmation from the internship host. There is an extra 40.00 non-refundable fee for this service. If we cannot locate the internship for you, either I.C.E. or the Law Firm will return the deposit to you depending on who you have paid. http://www.jamesrwatt.com/
A second option is that you can pay a non-refundable fee of $125.00 in lieu of the deposit. This is actually comparable to the basic application fee of some of our competitors. You then have the option of reviewing the placement we find and accepting or rejecting it regardless of whether it matches your expectations. If you move forward, the $125.00 is deducted from your deposit of $600.00. The $125.00 is non-refundable if we find a placement or do not. But you can cancel at your discretion. It will likely cost us more than that to locate your internship, but it is an option for you and allows us to expand our offerings.
We request three weeks to do the placement. If we find an organization that is willing to accept you, we send them the job description you sent and they sign off on it stating that they can provide quality work in the area that you indicated.
Full payment is due in full 45 days before departure.
