WEB INFORMATION ON THE INN Do you want to visit the Hawaiian Islands, but not be part of the tourist
crowd? *exploring the natural environment of Hawaii The Inn is centrally located on the East side of the Big Island, has affordable accommodations, old Hawaii island style ambiance, and information that begins where the guidebooks stop. Conveniently located in Hilo town. Just over the Wailuku River on the northern edge of downtown. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the Bay Front, a full service grocery store with deli and ice, Farmers Market and Bus station. There are 30 restaurants with in six blocks: fast food, local, Thai, Chinese, Sushi, Japanese, Latin American, Mexican, Cafe, Italian, American, Pacific Rim, Vietnamese, natural foods and fresh Seafood. Kress Movie Theater is 3 blocks away showing 4 movies 3 times daily for $1.00. Affordable Accommodations Our rooms are very simple. We offer private rooms with private bathrooms and guarantee a clean room with a comfortable bed and hot shower. Old Hawaii Island Style Ambiance The Inn is not a typical hotel. We are a 1920's sugar cane plantation workers house, converted in the 1950's to an Inn with 27 private rooms with private baths. The Inn reflects the era in which it was created. No air conditioning because the property is one block up from the ocean and slants uphill. The building is positioned to catch the trade winds, Hilo is the windward side of the island and there is nothing to block the breeze except trees. Our grounds are tropical with bamboo and banana trees shading the building. Each room has a ceiling fan and cross ventilation. Pools, telephones in the room, televisions and internet access were not standard at that time. We have not updated to join the twenty first century ~ but that's part of the the appeal of The Big Island. Some of the higher priced rooms do have a few extra amenities.
