Location
The beautiful city of Pattaya, about a 2-hour drive from Bangkok, will be your home during your internship. In just thirty years, Pattaya has undergone a dramatic transformation from a sleepy coastal fishing village to a major cosmopolitan hub of tourism; Pattaya is now a thriving city with some 200,000 locals and an uncountable number of tourists at any one time. You will find Pattaya an interesting and eclectic mix of incredible scenery and beaches, temples and shrines, cabaret and entertainment locales, elephant shows, and restaurants. The company is situated on the outskirts of Pattaya, giving it a secluded and quiet feel, despite being close to the busy and vibrant center of town.
Job Description
The successful intern will be a flexible and able to adapt to different daily tasks. The initial orientation period is designed to allow the intern to become familiar with the general daily operations and will lead to more responsibility as skills and confidence develop. This includes joining a web design team to assist in designing and maintain web sites for clients, as well as assisting in the production of a monthly magazine called 'Benjarong' which advertises businesses and services in Pattaya. In addition, you will assist designers with advertising literature for a number of local companies in the local tourist industry, such as canoeing and tour companies. Working for a small business, you will quickly learn about the administrative side of the company, as well as the sales and marketing aspects that are vital to any organization.
Interns must have energy and enthusiasm to learn as the workload can be heavy as you assist in all areas of the business. Interns receive some supervision and training from experts in all facets of web design, desktop publishing, and running a small business. For someone looking toward a career in web design or toward starting a business, this is an ideal experience.
Availability and Requirements
Position is available year round.
Applicants must have solid writing skills and experience maintaining websites, but most importantly, must have artistic ability and skills. This is a small business, so interns must be willing to take on many different responsibilities involving administration, marketing and sales, product design, and/or customer service. Applicants are encouraged supply any examples of web site design that they may have created along with any relevant course work. Interns must pose a mature and dedicated work ethic, and be able to work independently without supervision.
Accomodation
Where possible, ICE will try and place you in a homestay with a local resident of Pattaya. Otherwise, we will offer you a choice between a dormitory or an apartment. Please specify on your application form what type of accommodation you would prefer.
