Intern Around the World: Footsteps of the Buddha is a celebration of culture and ecology through global service. This multi-country, once in a lifetime semester program features Asian religions, language study, cultural preservation and environmental stewardship.
Set amidst the dramatic settings of Hawaii, Thailand and Nepal, participants will aid environmental scientists with ongoing research, collaborate with community development projects, promote women's rights, and even stay in religious temples. What's more, consider the option of earning twelve semester units for your efforts!
Designed for the socially and environmentally conscious, Intern Around the World allows participants to give, in order that they may receive
~Hawaii~
Our sojourn begins with a week-long orientation program in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Walk the living slopes of Kilauea volcano and learn firsthand from scientists and Native Hawaiians about the fire goddess Pele and the mystery that enshrouds the islands. Following orientation, choose a three-week internship placement with the Nature Conservancy, a children's literacy project, or work to inventory and protect critical aquatic resources. click here for more information
~Thailand~
Re-join as a group for a fourteen-hour flight to The Land of Smiles. In Bangkok, spend seven days exploring ancient Buddhist temples, night markets on the Chao Praya River, and the decadent Royal Palace of the only nation in Southeast Asia never to be colonized. Following orientation, divide up again for internship projects that include: volunteer work and study in a Buddhist monastery; ecological restoration in Thailand's premier National Park; or work with disadvantaged youth.
